Art of Battle - Lesson 2

2019-10-10

First let's reveal the answer to the question from Lesson 1:

Q: When you have limited resources and upgrading items, which troop should be upgraded first to get the most benefit?

A: Infantry. As a pure defensive troop, the infantry provides the lord with the strongest defense besides the shield. You can ensure to win a battle with less lose by upgrading the infantry in priority.

So here is the Question: What's the STYLE of battle?

Keywords: Turn-based attack

The Avalon battle system uses Turn-based attacks: each battle consists of a certain number of rounds. In each round, all the troop types will conduct an attack. The bonus effect will be recalculated according to the results of the last round, then a new round of attacks will occur.

Examples:

1. Research: Undying Oath I Lv.5

Effect: During the battle, when the number of troop types is no more than 6, you'll get a Critical Hit Chance of 10%. Critical hits deal 180% damage. (Troops of different types or levels are counted individually.)

Interpretation: In a battle, if you carry no more than 6 types of troops, then all of your troops will have a 10% chance to cause a critical hit in EACH ROUND.

2. War Strategy - Sacrifice Lv.1

Effect: Infantry will take 3.5% damage on behalf of other troops whenever the remaining number of Infantry is more than 50% of all Infantry on the march.

In a battle, the Sacrifice will always take effect in Round 1 (remaining number of Infantry is 100%). After Round 1, there may have been a certain percentage of infantry loss, but let's assume that you have 51% of your infantry remaining. Then in Round 2, the Sacrifice will take effect again, until the round in which you have less than 50% infantry.

Master the rules of the battle and rationally deploy the troops so that you can fully exert your power.

As we've learned, the best choice is to take 6 types of troops on a march so that you get the chance of Critical Hits. Question: If the crit chance is 0, which is better: taking as many types of troops as you can, or taking less?
